わたし、「rapport」と言ってたら、フランス人教師に「essaiかtexteがいいよ。rapportだと、始末書みたいなニュアンスになっちゃうよ」と指摘されたんだけど、英語だと＞reportでいいの？

レポートとエッセイって日本語でのニュアンスでは

レポート—-研究とか勉強の過程の報告書

エッセイ—-随筆とか感想文とか

という感じの違いがあると思いますが、
英語ではどうなんでしょうか。。。
あまり深く突っ込んで調べてはいませんが、

始末書ってのはEXCEED 和英辞典(goo)によると

a written apology

とか言う場合もあるみたいです。
私達が書いて提出するレポートには

research paper （研究）

とか

term paper　（学期末）

なんてのが相応しい表現かもしれません。
ただのpaperなんてのもありかも。

英語ではエッセイでもレポートでもいいのでは？（日本語でスマソ）

ちなみに、仏語の「卒論」はmemoire（単数）です。複数だと、「回想録」ってことで。
英語と仏語、やっぱり、微妙に違うね。当たり前だけど。
